IP ingress protection ratings details

The IP rating defines the level of protection associated with the ingress of solid foreign objects
and the ingress of water.
IP45

• 1st digit: protection against dust
• 2nd digit: protection against water intrusion

- Protected against the effects of temporary immersion (up to 1 m). The
ingress of water in harmful quantities will not be possible when the

equipment is immersed in water under defined pressure and time con-
ditions (up to 1 m submersion).
- Submersible material under specified conditions (prolonged immersion)
beyond 1 m and for 30 minutes. Normally, this means that the equip-
8 ment is hermetically sealed. However, with certain types of equipment,
this may mean that water can ingress, but only provided that it does
not produce adverse effects. Protection against submersion.

- Submersible material under specified conditions (prolonged immersion)
beyond 1 m and protection against high-pressure cleaning. Normally,

this means that the equipment is hermetically sealed and can withstand
high water pressure.
- Protection against high-pressure cleaning, at high temperature and

coming from several directions

IP 45: Product Protected against solid objects greater than 1mm and protected against water jets from any
direction (nozzle 6.3 mm, distance 2.5 m to 3 m, flow rate 12.5 l/min ± 5% ).
